MINUTES

2008 AGM

Minutes of AGM held at Rag, Tag & Textile, Balmacara Square on

Weds. 26th November 2008.

Present at the meeting: Fiona MacEwan, Iain Turnbull, Tim Sowood, Elaine Hunter, Frank Burstow, Bob Anderson, Bruce Taylor.

Apologies from Steve Smith & Fiona Begg

Bruce reported that (re compensation issue) Steve Smith has informed the FCS land agent that he supports the minimum period of 6 months notice required.

Minutes of the last AGM were read.

Bob presented us with copies of the Treasurer’s report as of 31st March 2008 - Thanks to Bob.

Since last AGM:

  1. We have played host to Te Pooka. The evening performance was well attended and the workshops (for school children) during the day proved popular as well.

  2. Balmacara Country Day May 2008

  3. Our first orienteering training event - late September.

  4. Treatment of Japanese Knotweed - ongoing.

Election of office bearers & committee for 2008/09:

Frank nominated Fiona MacEwan as Chair and the nomination was supported by Elaine.

Fiona nominated Elaine Hunter as Secretary and that nomination was seconded by Iain.

Iain nominated Bob Anderson as Treasurer and Tim seconded.

Other members of the committee are: Iain Turnbull, Tim Sowood, Frank Burstow.

Bruce Taylor remains in his capacity as an interested party and our first point of contact with FCS.

Minutes from our previous meeting (29/10/08) were read . (My apologies to Frank who apparently was there…)

We agreed that our email list - for circulation of minutes - should include at least one member from Kyle CC and also one member from Plockton CC and local councillors.

We discussed our website and Tim has kindly agreed to contact Steve Heap, who was involved in setting up the site, with a view to updating and maintaining this. Minutes of meetings to be uploaded there also.

Reception Building - re planning permission for the building - the lease needs to be in place - Frank questioned the state of play, how will ‘change of use’ figure?

We will have around £7,000 left from our Awards for All award and grant from British Orienteering . Some of the money will go on orienteering equipment such as controls, punches, gates etc. Survey work needs to be extended. We agreed that to enable Tim to progress and make best use of OCAD software, we will purchase a printer. We will organise more initial training and follow-up training.

Fiona has had some discussion with Elizabeth Stewart re the quote from Roddy Stewart (joiner) - hopefully this is in the pipeline.

O-Training - June Sanderson may go to Ullapool with John Shearer from Gairloch (who attended our initial training). Could we get involved here and combine?

LWP - Bruce informs us that the large cypress which has been blown over recently in LWP would be ideal for external use and suggests we make a request for this.

Fiona suggested we may run a chainsaw course in the park - Bruce happy to help with this if need be.

Bal Country Day - this year 9th May.

Next meeting is to be held on 28th January 2009 at 7:30pm

RAG, TAG & TEXTILE, BALMACARA.
