A partnership between the people of Lochalsh and the Forestry CommissionA COLLECTIVE VISION
Lochalsh Woodland Park is an ideal place for a walk and a picnic and the people of Lochalsh, as well as our visitors, have made excellent use of this quiet and secluded corner of Lochalsh for many years. A network of paths is set amongst mature, mixed woodland providing shelter when needed, and areas of open grassland which offer a taste of the outstanding natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. The Park is part of a large area of woodland managed by The Forestry Commission Scotland. In February of 2005, community representatives from the Lochash area constituted the Lochalsh Woodland Park Steering group. Its objectives were to work alongside the Forestry Commision Scotland to facilitate the continued use of the Park for recreation, sport, community events and education, including all necessary provisions of rights of public access and to conserve and improve the natural environment in the site. An agreement has now been reached between The Forestry Commission Scotland and the Steering Group to lease the land to provide increased public benefits.
